Circular economy is now possible in Trinidad and Tobago!

Imagine a Trinidad and Tobago where every plastic bottle you use gets a second life—instead of clogging our drains, streets and coastlines. Thanks to Every Bottle Back TT, that vision is here. We’ve built an island-wide PET/HDPE plastic bottles, aluminium beverage cans, and beverage cartons recycling network to keep your bottles/cans/cartons in the economy and out of the environment.

The Every Bottle Back TT Initiative

Every Bottle Back TT is a multi-sector collaboration, led by Container Recycling Services Ltd., that brings together the private sector and citizens to collect, sort, bale, export and remanufacture plastic beverage containers. In the case of HDPE Type 2 collected, the circular economy is fulfilled via local recycling/upcycling. Our sponsors include Blue Waters, Caribbean Bottlers T&T, Republic Bank, and Nestlé Caribbean, all working toward one goal: closing the loop on beverage containers in Trinidad & Tobago.

How it works

  1. 1
We accept PET (Type 1) bottles Water, juice, and soft drink bottles.
  2. 2
We also accept HDPE (Type 2) plastics Vinegar, bleach, and household cleaning containers.
  3. 3
We’ve also started accepting aluminium beverage cans Standard drink cans.
  4. 4
In addition, we accept beverage cartons as donations Milk, juice, soup stock, and similar cartons.

What we do

  • Process and bale PET bottles and aluminium beverage cans at our Sorting Center for export to certified re-processors.
  • Process HDPE for local recycling and upcycling by supplying material to local partners, completing the circular economy model in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Empower community entrepreneurs to operate recycling collection businesses within their areas, delivering material to our Sorting Center.
  • Educate communities on waste reduction, proper sorting, and responsible disposal.
  • Provide free, convenient collection infrastructure including single-use bins and silo-bags to communities, schools, entrepreneurs, and places of worship to create central drop-off points.
  • Track impact in real time to measure performance and drive continuous improvement and growth.

Where they are processed

All collected containers are consolidated at our Mt. Lambert Sorting Centre. From there, PET materials are baled and shipped to international recyclers for washing, flaking and re-manufacture. HDPE materials are supplied to our local partners for recycling/upcycling into plastic shipping pallets, plastic lumber, plastic park benches, etc. Beverage aluminium cans are also baled and shipped to international recyclers for processing into new aluminium products.

Mt. Lambert Sorting Centre is the consolidation point for all collected materials before local supply or export.
